In today’s fast-paced world, digital functional skills are essential – not just a bonus, but a must-have.

This course is designed to give you the practical knowledge and confidence to thrive in work, study, and everyday life. Whether you’re aiming for your dream job, managing daily digital tasks, or progressing in education, these skills are vital.

Through key units such as Managing Digital Information, you’ll learn how to use different devices, handle information securely, and create digital content. The Online Safety and Security unit will help you understand how to protect yourself and others online, including how to carry out safe online transactions. In Effective Online Communication and Collaboration, you’ll build the skills to communicate clearly and professionally in digital spaces. Finally, Developing Your Digital Career explores how these skills can boost your employability and prepare you for the demands of a digital workplace.

Our aim is to build your confidence, help you apply your skills in real-world scenarios, and show just how critical digital literacy is – laying the groundwork for further study and new career opportunities.

Course information

The course will cover the following topics:

  • using and managing information
  • keeping yourself and others safe when using digital devices
  • communicating and collaborating online 
  • digital career development.

There are no specific entry requirements for this course.

You will be assessed through a portfolio of evidence that is internally assessed and externally quality assured. This portfolio must show that you have achieved all the learning outcomes for each unit, based on relevant assessment tasks.

Upon successful completion, you will be able to progress to a range of higher-level, industry-relevant qualifications in the digital and tech sectors.
